We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior VP of Sales position with a leading multinational chemicals, biopharmaceutical and biotechnology company. This is a permanent position that can be based out of any of the company’s global facilities.
PURPOSE
The Senior Vice President of Sales for the Biologics division, provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the sales function. As the organization’s senior-most sales leader, the SVP is accountable for overall performance of the sales organization and ensuring alignment with the four different business units comprising the Biologics division. The SVP will report directly to the President of the Biologics division.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Biologics commercial organization which consists of approximately 75 Business Developers, Account Managers, and Negotiators.
- Build an environment and foundation to support current and future sales growth
- Achieve Biologics revenue and profitability targets by:
- Aligning the sales organization’s objectives with the Company’s business strategy
- Participating in corporate strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Developing and executing a global sales strategy, in alignment with the four business units comprising the division
- Focusing on market data, understanding key accounts, developing relationships in advance of opportunities, and pursuing the opportunities best suited to win.
- Leads learning and development initiatives impacting the sales organization and provide stewardship of sales and sales management talent
- Establish learning and development objectives essential to the sales organization’s success
- Oversee the effective delivery of training and development programs
- Ensure talent development agenda is delivering high ROI and effectively building the commercial talent pipeline to support a 4B business in the future
- Establishes and governs the sales organization’s performance management system. This includes:
- Establishing incentives, sales targets and managing performance
- Ensuring equitable allocation of sales objectives across the organization
- Serve as a member of the Biologics Leadership Team and support execution of wider Company agenda
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Our Client is seeking an experienced commercial leader in the Bio/Pharma Space. The successful candidate will have well-developed general management skills that allow them to support the wider divisional and corporate leadership agenda and take responsibility for ensuring their global commercial team is well managed and capable of meeting the agreed business plan.
The incumbent must be high energy, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to influence within a matrix environment. The incumbent will have experience leading leaders, demonstrated ability to develop a high performing teams, and experience creating a best in class commercial organization.
- Minimum of 10 years pharma/biotech experience in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, marketing or other discipline; PhD/MBA preferred
- Well-developed personal network
- Above average understanding of the Biologics Sector
- Global Matrix management experience
- Knowledge of the CMO industry (large and small molecule)
- Demonstrated experience in business planning, strategy development, and financial management
- Above average business acumen
- Global commercial experience
- Excellent negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to build partnerships
- Proven experience in the development and launching of products/services in the biotech and/or pharmaceuticals industries
