We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an R&D Scientist (Enzymes) position with a Global Leader in the Food and Beverage industry. This is a permanent position based in the Republic of Ireland.
PURPOSE
The ideal candidate will be a core member of the Enzyme R&D team requiring a deep knowledge of enzymology and or cereal science/biochemistry and a working knowledge of baking applications. The person must be prepared to travel to customer and in-house sites/ facilities to support the bakery application team in carrying out trials and presentation of enzyme technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to apply scientific knowledge across a range of bakery applications
- Lead bakery enzyme projects working directly in the bakery lab with the application team
- Work within the Enzyme technology team interpreting data to provide technical guidance to projects
- Communicating the benefits of the technologies through customer interactions including visiting bakery customer sites and applying these benefits in customers processes
- Support the relevant Business Development and Account Managers to assist in growing current and in the development of new enzyme business through presentation and application of our enzyme technologies.
- Cross collaboration with other relevant bakery application experts in other locations
- Identify opportunities and synergies where enzyme technologies can be leveraged
- Ideal candidate will become the bakery enzyme application subject matter expert
- Must be prepared to travel globally
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s Degree or MSC in Cereal Chemistry and Biochemistry/ Enzymology/ Biotechnology and/or food applications
- Strong enzyme application knowledge into cereal processing essential
- Project co-ordination experience desirable
- Enzyme application experience in bakery field at lab, pilot or plant scale (all three desirable)
- Relevant links with bakery/enzyme industrial groups or academic research teams preferable
- 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role
